"What can FMA training do for me?"
Improved cardio, greater flexibility, increased strength, better coordination, the list of benefits is almost endless.  The fact that you will also be learning correct martial arts technique from expert Black Belt instructors is a bonus.  Remember that while our martial arts techniques are based on self-defence the reality is you are much more likely to die from a heart attack than a knife attack.  Fitness and good health is self-defence.


"Do I have to be in shape to start FMA?"
No, in fact the first goal of our program is to get you into shape.  The workout is intense and will push your limits but everyone’s limits are different.  The program allows you to set your own pace so that you can achieve your fitness goals quickly and safely.  


"I've never taken any Martial Arts before, is that a problem?"
Beginners are our specialty and our program is designed to let you progress at your own pace.  There is usually more than one Black Belt per class and there is plenty of opportunity for one on one help.   Your fitness level will increase quickly and we promise you will never be bored working out again.


"I have done Martial Arts training before, is that going to be a problem?"
No, in fact we welcome students from other styles or arts.  The techniques we use in FMA are widely used in all martial arts so experienced students will find they can adapt easily.  Depending on your level of experience you may also want to check out one of our Tashu Shotokan Karate classes.  You can talk to one of our instructors about that when you come in for your first FMA class.


"How much will it cost?"
Fortunately you do not have to pay what the program is worth.  Our memberships are strictly monthly and do not involve any long term contracts.  Our students keep coming back because they want to.  As well, we guarantee our memberships.  If, after four classes in your first month of training, you are not completely sold on the benefits of training at Total Martial Arts we will refund 100% of your membership.

“How does this program work?”
Our adult karate program is an extension of our Fitness Martial Arts classes designed for students who want to learn more about the applications of the techniques they have been learning.  Many people are happy to stick with the FMA classes and all the benefits that come with it but if you are looking for something deeper our Karate program is perfect for you.


"What can Karate training do for me?"
Karate training extends the physical benefits gained from the Fitness Martial Arts workouts but more importantly students will learn how to apply there martial arts techniques to a variety of different situations.  During these classes you will learn self-defence, sparring, kata (a traditional training method) and a more advanced technique.  The class will go beyond technique to examine the strategy and psychology of the art.  Students will be able to progress from white belt to black belt and beyond.


“What do I need in order to start?”
Although it varies from person to person, we suggest approximately two months of FMA training in order to get into good shape and to adequately learn the basic techniques that you will need to begin a deeper study of the art. 
 

"I have done Martial Arts training before, is that going to be a problem?"
No, the style we practice is Tashu Shotokan Karate and Tashu means adaptability.  Our philosophy is that the style should serve the student not the other way round.  As long as you bring an open mind we can work with your previous training to maximize your potential.  Let us know the type and level of prior instruction when you come in for your first class.  We may be able to arrange for direct enrolment in our Karate program.


"How much will it cost?"
Our Karate program is part of the Fitness Martial Arts program.  Enrolment in FMA includes the Karate program at no additional cost.

"How and when can I get started?"
If you are new to the martial arts give us a call to a free trial Fitness Martial Arts class.  Once you have begun training in FMA we will arrange an introductory Karate class when you are ready.  If you have previous training you can discuss direct entry to the program with an instructor.
